I am so thankful that you had this opportunity. Keep reminding us of these things. I hope that we continually expand our vision to see more like God sees, our church, our community, and our world.

I would be willing to wear a name tag. I don't particularly care for them personally, but I see your point. I think that as a whole we need to start thinking more like a large church. There are many helpful ways that we still think like a small church, unfortunately somethings seem to be holding us back. If name tags every Sunday will help visitors to feel more accepted or comfortable, I'm in.

Well, if you had a permanent name tag, that would mean I couldn't have fun and put in a name different than my own! But that aside...the idea seems to make sense.

My thoughts are more of - the issue may not be one of familiarity (I can certainly say 'Hello friend!' or 'Hey guy!' easily enough and get away with it), but more of a WalMart mentality. What I mean by that is - folks may want to enter into this area in a comfortable uncommitted shopper type of mentality. They may be perpetual non-committed folks. That seems to be emblematic of the 'seeker' movement in general - we're all in this together but we're all pretty much separate!

I don't need to specifically know a name to show I care for folks. But that brings up the point you are (I think) trying to address. How can I learn more about someone - and can I start with a name. For that, I'd be willing to wear a permanent name tag...as long as I can swap with someone every now and again.

Dr Richard,
You know how I feel about your leaving to pursue God's next adventure for you and Terry.
You have been a mentor, a teacher, a counselor, a pastor, and a friend.
I look forward to our relationship growing stronger as we both venture forth seeking God's purpose.
May you and Terry continue to serve God with grace, intelligence, and patience.
I miss you.

It is a blessing to see you still at work in the world following the calling that you both were born to serve. Its a blessing for me to look up my family name and see that God's work is being done and our family is attached. God be with you Uncle Richard and Aunt Terry in your continuing mission to serve and let my rotten cousins know that they are on my mind often. I miss you all dearly and will continue to pray for you in all that you do!
Grace and Peace go with you always!

Dear Richard and Terry,

We are indeed very sad to see you both go, and cannot imagine ministry without you. You were both there to nurture and guide us through some very difficult times, and to rejoice with us when God's plans finally came together. And who will ever forget our very unique wedding?!? The Cowboys/Redskins Halftime Wedding will go down in history, and we are so glad you, Dr. Richard, even as a Redskins fan, was here to unite us in marriage.

From Tammy - as a new member at Seaford, you invited me along with the gang and the Pickle on the infamous road trip to Willow Creek for the Volunteer Revolution Conference. It was such a blessing to me to get to know both of you on such a personal level. And I will always think of you both every time I eat at Panera Bread (both for the Leadership Summit lunches and just times of fellowship and sharing).

The sermon today from Joshua brought peace to our hearts, and although we will miss you both terribly, we know God has great plans in store for you, for us, and for Seaford Baptist Church, and we know that our paths will indeed cross again! We send you off with all our love and admiration and cannot wait to see what God has in store for all of us in this time of transition.

Much love,
Hans and Tammy

Dear Dr Richard and Terry,
We shall never forget the comfort you brought to our family when you came to Abingdon, Maryland at the death of our daughter Debbie. Words cannot express what it meant to us to have you there and also for the service you conducted at Yorktown Beach that very, very cold day. Thank you for your spiritual guidance during the many years of your ministry here and may God richly bless you in your further service to Him. We will certainly miss you both. Know you are in our prayers.

Terry we have not come to know you as well as we should but it is obvious that you are a loving servant of God and you have worked hard for SBC. For this and your kindness, faithfulness, and beautiful singing we thank you. Richard we thank you for always being there when we needed you and also for all of the many sermans that you have presented to us in such a glorious manner. No one I have ever known or heard speak has been able to touch my heart with the same magnitude that you have. We thank you too for your friendship, love, sense of humor and for not singing :) We are sad that you are leaving and wish you both all the happiness and goodness that you deserve. We love you and hope if you are ever in this area again you will grace us with your presence and we will think of you every time we eat chocolate.
